Guide to Ordering Decorative Pillows and Pillow Inserts
- Knife Edge and Pleated Corner Pillows, once stuffed, will visually appear smaller.
- Keep this in mind when ordering.
|
Fabric
- Customer should supply the fabric or material. C.O.M. = customers' own material.
- If it is ever to be washed, it must be pre-shrunk.
- In some cases, we may have, in our own collection, fabrics to back your needlepoint or tapestry, or fabric for contrast welt.
|
Zippers
- Customer should supply, if a hand-stitched closure is not ordered.
- The hand-stitched closure is a clean, high-end look. Zippers are for covers that need occasional washing.

Size
- The pillow insert should almost always be a bit larger than the finished cover size, measured seam to seam, stretched tightly across the middle of the pillow.

Fill
- Feather:
Contains a small quill, is heavier, gives more support, and is much less expensive than down
- Use 95/5 Feather/Down or a 90/10 Feather/Down mix for:
- Support Cushions
- Seat Cushions
- With Heavier Weight Cover Fabrics
- When economy and price is a major factor
|
- Down:
Light, airy, soft, and about 10 times the cost of feather. The higher the down content, the softer and lighter your pillow.
- Use White Duck Down for:
- Very light weight silks, cottons, blends
- When softness is main concern
|
- Blends:
The 90/10 Feather/Down and 75/25 Feather/Down mix are good choices for most medium weight fabrics.
